Visiting Wonthaggi Hospital

Are you coming to hospital for a clinic appointment, day procedure or an operation? Do you have a loved one in hospital who you want to visit? Find out more so you can plan your visit.

Telephone enquiries from relatives and friends regarding a patient’s condition should be made on (03) 5671 3333 between the hours of 9:00am and 8:00pm.

Wonthaggi Hospital reception hours are 9:00am to 8:00pm, seven days a week.

Visiting hours at Wonthaggi Hospital are from 10:00am to 8:00pm, seven days a week.

Two visitors are permitted per resident per day, on each ward. 

Visitors for patients needing social and behavioural support, accompanying children, as a birth partner and to visit palliative patients are asked to obtain approval from the Nurse Unit Manager during business hours and the Health Service Coordinator after hours.

Wonthaggi Hospital offers free on-site parking, the main carpark can be accessed via Graham Street and is the best option for the main entrance, Acute Ward, and Radiology.

Parking near the Allied Health and Cancer Centre is found at the rear of the hospital off Baillieu Street West, while the Emergency Department has its own dedicated parking at its entrance.

Disabled parking: Accessible and disabled spaces are located close to the main entrance.

Please note: Some carpark areas are currently closed due to building works and safety concerns, including the old helipad, the far western row and rear sheds.

If the main carpark is full, street parking is available on surrounding streets including Graham Street.

For those using public transport, a bus stop is conveniently located at the rear of the hospital on Baillieu Street West. Services primarily run on weekdays; there is no local service on weekends or public holidays.

There is a second bustop for transit to Coronet Bay on the Graham Street roundabout.

About Wonthaggi Hospital

On January 1, 2026 Bass Coast Health became a part of the new Bayside Health - a public healthcare service covering over 1.2 million Victorians. Bayside Health Regional now includes the former South Gippsland Health Service, Kooweerup Regional Health service and Bass Coast Health. 

We provide a range of acute, sub-acute, ancillary medical, aged and allied health services, largely from our three sites: Wonthaggi Hospital, San Remo, and Phillip Island Community Hospital.
