What we do
Nephrology focuses on the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of kidney related conditions. Kidneys play a vital role in filtering waste, balancing electrolytes, regulating blood pressure, and supporting overall health.
When they are not functioning properly, a wide range of symptoms and complications can occur.
Locally the team provides inpatient care, acute dialysis and consultation for all patients admitted to Wonthaggi and Phillip Island Hospital with kidney problems.
In addition, the department provides a range of outpatient clinics for chronic kidney disease and haemodialysis.
