What we do

Our McGrath Cancer Care Nurse for Breast cancer patients looks after people with early and metastatic Breast Cancer. The service is available without a referral, for free.

McGrath Cancer Care Nurses are expert Registered Nurses who have a background in oncology. They provide support to people with Breast Cancer as well as their families and carers, from diagnosis through treatment, recovery and end of treatments.

This service across Bass Coast Shire follows the McGrath Model of Care, which is an evidence‑based national framework for best‑practice cancer nursing.

What we offer

A McGrath Cancer Care Nurse build an important relationship with each person they support. They become a trusted, consistent and knowledgeable point of contact.

We can support with the following:

  • Emotional support, addressing questions you or your family may have
  • Continuity of care throughout treatment as they are a central point of contact
  • Clinical care at any stage of treatment
  • Patient advocacy as a part of the multidisciplinary team
  • Evidence-based information and advice relevant to your cancer and treatment
  • Family support

When: Mondays, 9:00am — 5.30pm
Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday,  9:00am — 3:00pm
