What we do
Infectious Diseases (ID) provides specialist assessment, diagnosis, and management of infections caused by bacteria, viruses, fungi, and parasites.
The service supports patients with simple and complex infections, including those that are persistent, recurrent, or require specialist treatment planning.
Who we care for
We care for and treat people with the following:
- Associated complications and fever in return travellers
- Endocarditis
- Hepatitis B
- Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV)
- Mycobacterial Infectives: Including Tuberculosis, Mycobacterium Ulcerans, Mycobacterium Avium Complex
- Management of complex Infections, Long term infections will be managed by Hospital in the Home
- Osteomyelitis
- Orthopaedic Joint Infection
- Sexually Transmitted diseases
- Spinal Infections
Exclusions
The following conditions/procedures are not routinely seen at Bayside Health – Regional:
- Paediatrics (anyone under 18 years of age)
- Non-Infective Rashes
- Hepatitis C
