Support is available for local residents who are seeking help for alcohol and drug use

What we do

Our service provides a range of Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) treatment programs and services available for people seeking to change their choices.

Services offered by Wonthaggi Hospital and Phillip Island Hospital: 

  • Assessment for referral to appropriate AOD services
  • Counselling to individuals and family members
  • Care and recovery coordination
  • Family Support Group
  • SMART (Self-Management and Recovery) Groups

All services are free.

How to access this service

If you are seeking help for alcohol and drug use or addiction, you live in the Gippsland or Bass Coast area and are over 18, contact the Access team at the Wonthaggi Hospital on (03) 5671 3175.

Leave your details which will then be passed on to the AOD intake worker or you can call ACSO (Australian Community Support Organisation) on 1300 022 760.

  • Families or those affected by a loved one’s substance use

Who would benefit from this service?

Our service provides safe, supportive, non-judgmental counselling for you, your partner and your family, who are affected by the misuse of alcohol and other drugs.

Appointments

Counselling is free of charge and offered within the Bass Coast region. Counsellors can see clients at Wonthaggi Hospital, Philip Island Community Hospital and Grantville Rural Transaction Centre or by arrangement.

Needle and Syringe Program

What does the NSP provide?

The Needle and Syringe Program (NSP) provides free sterile needles and disposal containers which are available from dispensing machines at Wonthaggi Hospital and Phillip Island Community Hospital at Cowes.
