Currently Wonthaggi Hospital and Phillip Island Community Hospital, a part of Bayside Health, does not employ Interns directly. Six intern positions are on rotation from Monash Health in the Emergency department.

Hospital medical officers (HMO2)
We are seeking positive, committed and inspiring HMO2s (Hospital Medical Officers) dedicated to delivering exceptional patient care and outcomes.

Two general stream HMO2 positions are seconded from Austin Health in Acute General Medicine and Surgery. Three general stream HMO2 positions are seconded from Monash Health in Emergency Medicine and Acute General Medicine.

Our local BCH HMO2 positions are matched through the PMCV computer match process. Applications must be made to both the PMCV and BCH.
We offer rotations in acute general medicine, Hospital in the Home and Sub-Acute Geriatrics and Rehabilitation.
Bayside Health Regional accepts applicants from International Medical Graduates who:
- Have appropriately completed Australian Medical Council (AMC) requirements
- Are appropriately registered with the Medical Board and comply with any registration conditions/restrictions imposed
- Have an appropriate working visa and comply with any condition/restrictions imposed on that visa
Advanced training in geriatrics
Geriatric trainees are on rotation from Alfred health in the sub-acute Geriatric and rehabilitation ward at Bayside health Regional. Geriatric trainees get exposure to inpatient acute geriatric assessments, outpatient general geriatric clinics and community visits to residential aged care. See HERE for Alfred Health details.
Obstetrics and gynaecology trainees
Obstetrics and Gynaecology Registrars are rotating from Alfred Health for 12-month periods gaining experience in Gynaecological surgery.
