Regional - Gifts, benefits and hospitality policy

Bayside Health Regional has a range of governance policies and procedures in place to preventing potential conflicts of interest

Target audience   

This policy is applicable to all Bayside Health staff.

Purpose 

This policy states Bayside Health’s position on:

• responding to offers of gifts, benefits and hospitality; and
• providing gifts, benefits and hospitality. 

This policy is intended to support individuals and Bayside Health to avoid conflicts of interest and 
maintain high levels of integrity and public trust. 

Bayside Health has issued this policy to support behavior that is consistent with the Victorian Public 
Sector Commission’s Code of conduct for Victorian public sector employees (the Code). All personnel 
are required under clause 1 of the Code to comply with this policy.

Application 

This policy applies to all Bayside Health personnel. This includes: all employees, Board members, 
Visiting Medical Officers, contractors, consultants, volunteers and any individuals or groups 
undertaking activity for or on behalf of Bayside Health.

Gifts and Gratuities

To demonstrate our commitment to these key principles, Bayside Health Regional has established a Gifts, Benefits and Hospitality Policy which sets clear parameters and guidelines relating to the acceptance of gifts, rewards and other acknowledgements from suppliers, providers and other third parties which all Bayside Health employees must adhere to.

It is recommended that any supplier, provider or third party contemplating providing a gift, reward or acknowledgment of any nature to a Bayside Health employee or team familiarise themselves with our Gift and Gratuities policy beforehand. 

In accordance with Victorian Public Sector Commission minimum standards, Bayside Health has adopted a totally transparent approach surrounding the acceptance of gifts and gratuities by our staff by publishing details of all gifts and gratuities received on Bayside Health's Gifts Register.
