Governance

Responsiveness and transparency are central to good decision making and underly Bayside Health’s governance processes.

Bayside Health is a body corporate created by the Health Services Act 1988 (Vic) (“Act”). It is governed by a range of statutes and regulations and is subject to direction from the Minister of Health (“Minister”) and the Secretary Department of Health (“Secretary”).

Bayside Health’s Board is accountable to the Minister for Health. Its role is to exercise good governance in achieving the objectives as outlined in the annual Statement of Priorities.

The Board comprises independent non-executive directors who are elected for a period of up to three years and can be re-elected to serve for up to nine years.

Vision

The Board’s vision for Bayside Health is for:

A fully integrated health service providing the community with comprehensive and seamless whole-of-life healthcare. The scale of Bayside Health provides the ability to understand and focus on the health of the community, as well as enhancing the provision of high-quality care close to home.
