Nutrition support

Nutrition support is here to help patients get the right food and nutrients their bodies need to heal, stay strong, and recover from illness

What we do

There are many ways we can offer Nutrition Support, which can include giving advice on healthy eating, providing special diets for medical conditions, or using supplements and feeding methods when people cannot eat enough on their own.

The goal is to make sure every patient has the energy, vitamins, and minerals they need to improve their health and wellbeing in a safe and effective way.

Everyone should be able to eat a healthy and nutritious diet, however there are many factors that can influence what we eat beyond choosing healthy foods.

The time we have to prepare and shop for healthy meals, the availability and access to foods, the costs, our culture, skills and knowledge of how to prepare food as well as the ads and social media that may present an appealing argument for fast foods. These are all conditions that can affect healthy eating.

Promoting healthy eating in our community is one of our priorities. We will work with our partners to enable a delicious, sustainable, fair, local food system.

A local program that is gaining in numbers is Food from Home program, the groups vision is a resilient, healthy, and food-secure future for all individuals, families, and households across Victoria.

There is also the Eat For Health website with plenty of great ideas, you can view the guide here.
