What we do
Podiatry supports the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of medical and surgical conditions of the foot and ankle. We assess your feet to treat a range of issues which may be affecting your overall health and wellbeing.
Conditions treated include those resulting from bone and joint disorders, soft-tissue and muscular pathologies, as well as neurological and circulatory disease.
A Podiatrist will help you to get the most out of your lifestyle by helping to keep you pain free and mobile.
Our Podiatry services include:
- Neurovascular assessments (diabetic foot assessment)
- Wound care
- General care (nail and skin care)
- Orthotics (OTC, semi-custom and custom)
- Nail surgery (partial or full nail avulsion)
Our Podiatry services are delivered in multiple programs and sites, including:
- Out-patient appointments – Leongatha Hospital
- Diabetes One Stop Shop Clinic – Leongatha& Hospital
- Community Health Services – Tarwin Lower
- Residential Aged Care - Koorooman House, Hillside, and Alchera House
We also offer an allied health assistant run, basic nail care clinic for people with normal nails, who are unable to complete their own nail care.
How to access this service
If you are under 65 years old, referrals can be made by service providers (GP, shire council, other health professionals, kinder teachers, teachers, maternal child health nurse, or paediatrician). You can also self-refer by contacting our intake team directly.

If you are over 65 years old, you need to be referred through My Aged Care. You can contact My Aged Care on 1800 200 422 and ask to be referred to Bayside Health Regional Care Group (Formerly Gippsland Southern Health Service).
What to bring
Every time you come:
- Medicare card
- Health Care Card and/or concession card (if you have one)
- Private health insurance card (if applicable/if you want to use it)
- Adverse drug alert card (if you have one
- Previous& X-ray films, scans, ultrasounds or any other test results or reports
- Medicines you need to take while you are here
- List of medicines you are currently taking (or the boxes), including medicines you have bought without a prescription, such as herbal supplements and vitamins
- Glasses, hearing aid(s) and/or walking frame if needed
For a clinic appointment:
- Your appointment letter
- Any special items listed on your letter
- TAC or WorkCover claim number (if relevant)
Bringing these items helps us give you the best care possible and ensures your visit goes smoothly.
