Occupational therapy

Occupational Therapists offer a variety of services to improve function and help promote independence

What we do

Our expert Occupational Therapists assess and improve daily living skills, support rehabilitation, and provide people of the Bass Coast and local area with the equipment or home strategies to help stay independent.

Services include:

  • Assessment and rehabilitation of physical and functional skills for both inpatients and outpatients
  • Rehabilitation in individual and group settings

We assess:

  • Your physical, cognitive and psychosocial abilities, skills and difficulties
  • The environments in which you perform your occupations, such as your home, school and workplace
  • The unique ways in which you participate in your occupations

Our interventions are designed to:

  • Let you participate in your chosen occupations by building your skills and capacity, providing education and equipment, and modifying environments
  • Promote your health and well-being through encouraging you to engage in occupations that enhance your health

Who we care for

  • Inpatients at both hospital sites
  • Outpatients who have been referred from a clinical service within the area

What we offer

We provide home and community visits to work with individuals and their families to devise strategies, recommend modifications and provide equipment such as shower stools, rails and small aides to assist in the activities of daily living.

Occupational therapy - paediatrics

Paediatric Occupational therapists assist children to maximise their abilities.

Mostly, occupational therapists work with children to assist them with self-care development, gross and fine motor skills, and behaviour and sensory issues.

We see children from 0-12 years, both with and without a diagnosed disability.

Our service is targeted towards clients with mild to moderate levels of impairment, however we are closely linked in with other paediatric services in the area and we may be able to refer families to a more relevant service, dependent on their child’s need.

We offer a range of interventions, ranging from individual therapy to group-based multi-disciplinary treatments.
