What we do
The Falls Prevention Program is for anyone who has had a fall or is at risk of falling. Each participant is individually assessed for suitability prior to commencing the program.
'Standing up to Falls' is an exercise and education program for anyone who has had a fall or is at risk of falling.
The program aims to:
- Provide you with information about preventing falls
- Help identify and reduce your personal risk factors for falls
- Enable you to participate in exercises to improve your strength and balance
- Participants meet weekly for the program
Each week, a physiotherapy-led exercise session is combined with an education session from one of the following health professionals: Physiotherapist, Occupational Therapist, Pharmacist, Dietician, Continence Nurse, Podiatrist, Vision Australia.
At the end of the eight-week program, you will be offered the opportunity to become involved in other exercise and social groups within Bayside Health Regional Care Group (Formerly Gippsland Southern Health Service) and the wider community.
Continued participation in effective exercise programs ensures the best outcomes.
