Board Member
Ms Athina Georgiou is an experienced non-executive director with more than 25 years of senior executive and CEO experience across public health, not-for-profit and other highly regulated sectors. She began her career as a paediatric speech pathologist, working in both private and public health systems and helping to establish university speech pathology training clinics in Melbourne.
Drawing on a broad strategic lens, Ms Georgiou approaches governance through an ethical, person-centred framework that drives transformation in complex, competitive environments. She has a proven track record in policy formulation, organisational change management, and professional mentoring, with a particular interest in allied health professions.
Her extensive board experience includes serving as Chair of the Gippsland Southern Health Service, where she led strategic reforms that strengthened governance, enhanced service delivery, elevated the consumer voice and expanded community access to healthcare services.
Ms Georgiou holds a master’s in business leadership and a master’s in education. She completed the Experience Bank programme through Leadership Victoria and earned a Fellowship with the Australian College of Health Service Management (ACHSM).
Ms Georgiou is a graduate from the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
