Dr Tony Kambourakis

Chief Medical Officer and Executive Director Clinical Governance | Bayside Health

As Chief Medical Officer and Executive Director Clinical Governance, Tony is responsible for clinical governance and medical workforce systems across Bayside Health, supporting safe, high-quality patient care.

Tony is a specialist dual-qualified in emergency medicine and medical administration and previously served as Director of Emergency Medicine at Monash Medical Centre. He also served as a Board Director at Peninsula Health, including as Chair of the Quality, Safety and People Committee, contributing to Board oversight of clinical quality, patient safety and workforce matters.

He joined Alfred Health as Director of Medical Services in 2016 and was later appointed Chief Medical Officer, with executive responsibility for clinical governance, patient experience and consumer engagement, medical workforce, pharmacy, and library.

Tony is actively involved in undergraduate and postgraduate medical education and is an adjunct senior lecturer with Monash University’s School of Translational Medicine. He is also an examiner with the Royal Australasian College of Medical Administrators .

He is Chair of the Postgraduate Medical Council of Victoria Medical Workforce Committee and a member of Safer Care Victoria’s Victorian Medical Council. He also served as a panel member of the Victorian ministerial review of public sector medical staff workplace systems and employment arrangements.
